Mariners get swept

Today the Seattle Mariners were swept by the Los Angeles Angels losing 6-1. Seattle lost the first two games of the series 8,4 and 7,6. Seattle's pitching has not been good, young star Felix Hernandez is likely to miss 3-4 starts with soreness in his elbow, and Jeff Weaver who they signed after he won the world series last season has an ERA (earned run average) of 6.44. The Mariner bats are doing well but they can't be expected to put up big numbers every game. The pitching has to get better for the Mariners to be successful.

Red Sox get out the brooms

Today, the Boston Red Sox beat the New York Yankees 7-6. Completing a three-game sweep of their bitter rivals. This is the first sweep of the Yankees at home for Boston since 1990. NFL gets tough

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has issued new off the field policies regarding player conduct. These policies came with the announcement that the Titans Pacman Jones would be suspended for all of the 2007 season, and that the Bengals Chris Henry would be suspended for 8 games. The suspensions are due to numerous run-ins with the law that the players had.

M's off to good start

The Seattle Mariners won the same amount of wins against the Oakland A's all of last season as they have in the first three games this season. They started the season off with Felix Hernandez on the mound and a convincing 4-0 win against the A's, then they won 8-4 with help from Yuniesky Betancourt who hit a tie breaking homer in the seventh. Yet the Mariners couldn't sweep the A's they lost the final game of the opening series 9-0 as the pitching and batting both struggled. Even with the loss things look promising for the M's this season. Fans can see hope of not finishing last in the division again. Lets hope the success continues.

Dice-K wins first start

Boston pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka or Dice-K lived up to the hype in his first major leage start. The nearly $100 million the Red Sox paid for his services worked out in his first start. Dice-K pitched 7 innings while giving up six hits, one homer, one walk and he struck out 10. The Red Sox won 4-1.
